BEST4NY began in the winter of 2011 when residents from various towns in Westchester County started meeting to share concerns about maintaining quality public education in a fiscally responsible way to reverse New York State’s financial crisis.    It became clear that opportunities exist to learn from one another’s experience and coordinate efforts outside and inside local communities.  Instead of sitting passively on the sidelines as things got worse,  BEST4NYers saw things that needed doing, started doing them, and joined the solution instead of contributing to the problem by doing nothing.

Some local problems can be solved locally.  But other local problems require statewide and local efforts to achieve a statewide solution.  BEST4NY hopes to address local and state problems by sharing experience, pooling effort, and inspiring more and more people to become involved in solving the problem.
