October 2, 2012 – BEST4NY public forum  on Mandate Relief at 7:30 P.M., Fox Lane Middle School, Route 172, Bedford, NY with speakers: Brian Kolb, Minority Leader of the NYS Assembly; George Oros, Chief of Staff to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino; and Mary Foster, Mayor of Peekskill and Member of the Task Force on Mandate Relief of the NY Conference of Mayors.

September 24, 2012, Monday, at  10:00 A.M., at the Rockland County Courthouse, 1 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, BEST4NY and Janis Castaldi, candidate for the NYS Senate, 38th District, held a press conference on mandate relief and for Castaldi to sign BEST4NY’s internet petition, “NYS MANDATE RELIEF NOW” .   Rockland County Legislator Ed Day attended and spoke.   Castaldi is signature no. 1270 on the petition.

June 11, 2012 – BEST4NY’s Public Forum at the James Hastings Community Center,  Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, entitled “How Mandates Affect Local Government Employee Contracts and Drive Up Costs.”  Panelists were:  Paul Feiner – Supervisor, Town of Greenburgh; Eileen Baecher – President, Board of Education Hastings-on-Hudson;  Niki Armacost-Trustee, Hastings-On-Hudson; Francis Frobe, Village Manager, Hastings-on-Hudson; and Vincent Toomey– Attorney, Labor & Employment Law.

May 21, 2012 – BEST4NYer Howland Robinson was the guest speaker at a meeting of the Westchester Putnam Association of Town Supervisors.  Topic was Mandate Relief.

May 9, 2012 – BEST4NY meeting.   Rye Supervisor Joe Carvin spoke and signed the BEST4NY Mandate Relief petition.  BEST4NYer Mark Connors discussed his efforts in Bronxville.

April 26, 2012 – PUBLIC FORUM: Unfunded State Mandates and Mandate Relief sponsored  by the Rye, Rye Brook, & Port Chester League of Women Voters.  See  the video of the League’s Forum  Speakers included (minute 13:05)  Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino followed by (minute 20:50) Rye Brook Mayor Joan Feinstein, followed by Rye Neck Union Free School District Superintendent Peter Mustich.  Details are here on this site and  on the League’s site here

1/19/12 – BEST4NY joins the statewide LETNYWORK coalition.  Unshackle Upstate, one of the 11 coalition founders, issued this PRESS RELEASE.
